Social Work

I would like to share with you a Vision of Love.  A project that started in January 2009 in La Flaminia, Sarapiqui.

Maria Elena Mora Quiros  to whom the children called mami saw the necessity of the children and young people of this community where most of the people is poor, with no opportunities and in which many children and Young people are in risk.  These children and young people searching for alternatives and be part of something they join gangs or groups that generate risk to them.

When mami realize this problem in this community she started along with her daughter Priscilla a place to teach hand craft and this will be the  first step for a chain of opportunities.

Without economic resources and materials they began to meet in a loan small house of 36 square meters and “the answer was immediate”.  The first 25 children arrived and after six months they have an attendance list of 65.  Every Saturday 35 children and young people come to the meetings.

A Bible history is given to them among values, hand craft and a snack before the end of the meeting.  The purpose of this project is to have a group of people donate their time so we can give these kids the tools to reach their dreams so they have something to hold on and eventually to earn their own money to be able to reach their needs.

Many of these talented young people and children walk approximately for an hour to arrive at the meeting.  The conditions of the roads are deplorable, but even so these young people arrive with a lot of enthusiasm since its desire to learn is greater than the penalties on the way.

As the time past God’s will for this project was clearer to us.   As first step the González Garmendia family donate a land of 1200 square meters to build a bigger class room.
